That is not a sales line, it is a practical difference. We can come and measure the same week rather than fitting you into a route. If something is not right on fitting day, the workshop is minutes away rather than an hour. And you can walk in, look at a fitted bedroom built and standing, and go home and think about it without committing to an appointment.
The housing
Stapleford is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the old town centre, interwar semis on the outskirts, and postwar estate housing beyond that.
The terraces have good ceiling height and long narrow plots behind them. In the bedrooms that height is the opportunity — a freestanding wardrobe stops about a metre short of the ceiling and leaves the rest doing nothing. Floor-to-ceiling units recover it as a full extra shelf.
They also have a chimney breast with two alcoves of different widths, and a box room over the stairs that standard furniture cannot use. A fitted run with sideways hanging — rail front to back rather than across — turns that box room into a usable single bedroom.
The interwar semis have bay windows in the front bedroom and better proportions. A run either side of the bay with a low seat-height unit beneath the window turns it into storage rather than an awkward gap.
The postwar estates are more regular — lower ceilings, straighter walls, level floors. Quicker to fit and generally less expensive, because there is less scribing and fewer specials.

What goes into a fitted bedroom
Hanging, drawers, a dressing area and the bedside, drawn as one piece rather than bought separately.
Drawers are the part people under-order — deep ones for bedding and jumpers, shallow for everything that currently lives on a chair. A dressing area needs less width than expected, around 900mm, but it needs a socket at the right height and light from the front rather than directly overhead, because downlights above a mirror put your own face in shadow.
For wardrobes specifically: sliding doors need no clearance in front but cost about 100mm of depth to the track; hinged give the full opening and need roughly 600mm of swing. A coat hanger is about 450mm across the shoulders, so you want 600mm of total depth for the door to close cleanly.

The Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the old town centre have bedrooms with good height and limited floor area, often with a chimney breast and two uneven alcoves.
Building into both alcoves and running the fronts flush across the breast gives a full wall of storage out of a shape that otherwise wastes space.
