Bathrooms Borrowash
Borrowash sits between Derby and the Erewash towns, a village of around four and a half thousand with period cottages in the older core and a great deal of interwar and postwar suburban housing around them.

This is most of Borrowash, and it comes with a very consistent bathroom: square, upstairs, part of the original build, with a separate WC next door and an airing cupboard taking a stretch of wall.
Knocking the bathroom and the WC together is the single best improvement available in this stock. It is generally a stud wall rather than anything structural, and it turns two cramped rooms into one with enough space to separate the bath and the shower properly instead of putting one over the other.
The airing cupboard is the other opportunity. Once the heating system is understood it can often be reduced or moved, which changes what the room can hold.

Borrowash is mostly interwar and postwar suburban housing with a period core, and the bathrooms follow the suburban pattern — upstairs, modest, often with a separate WC next door.
The commonest project here is combining the two and re-planning the result properly, rather than simply putting a bigger suite into the same layout. Moving the WC to the wall nearest the soil stack, and the bath to the window wall, usually produces a better room than keeping everything where it was.
Waste runs govern what a bathroom costs more than any fitting does. A WC needs a fall to the stack and a short run; move it a long way and you are into boxing, or into lifting a floor.

The older cottages
Thicker walls, ceilings that vary from room to room, and floors that have settled. The bathroom is almost always a conversion of something else, which is why so few of them are a sensible shape.
Fitted furniture is scribed to what the wall actually does rather than sat against it with a filler strip covering the gap, and there is usually unused height above a standard vanity worth building into.
Ventilation matters most in the solid-walled property. Extraction ducted properly to the outside on a run-on timer, or the moisture goes into the plaster and the paint lifts within two winters.

Wall-hung furniture
Suits the postwar housing and looks right in it — the floor running underneath makes a standard bathroom feel more open. It needs a frame fixed back to something structural, which in a stud wall means opening it up and adding noggins. Worth confirming that is in any quote you are comparing.
