Bramcote is largely interwar and postwar detached and semi-detached housing, with a good proportion built in the 1960s and 70s, and some older stone property around the old village. The bathrooms are generally better proportioned than in the terraced towns nearby.
The 1960s and 70s housing
This is the bulk of Bramcote, and it has a very particular bathroom: reasonable floor area, a separate WC next door, and an airing cupboard taking a stretch of wall.
Knocking the bathroom and the separate WC together is the single best improvement available in this stock, and it is usually a stud wall rather than anything structural. It turns two cramped rooms into one that works properly, with room to separate the bath and the shower instead of putting one over the other.
The airing cupboard is the other opportunity. Once the heating system is understood, it can often be reduced or relocated, which changes what the room can hold.

Bramcote is an affluent suburb with a lot of 1960s and 70s detached housing, and those houses were built with genuinely generous bathrooms by the standards of anything before or since.
That space changes what is possible. A separate bath and a walk-in shower both fit, rather than forcing the compromise of a shower over the bath. Where there is a second bathroom or an en-suite, the two can be specified differently: a full bath in one, a proper shower room in the other.
A walk-in wet room needs a fall to the drain of around 1:50 across the whole wetted area. On a solid floor that means forming the fall in the screed; on timber it usually means a pre-formed sloped tray set between the joists.
Done properly, water goes to the drain. Done by eye, it sits in the corner, and no amount of sealant fixes a floor that is flat.

Stone and period brick, with thicker walls, ceilings that vary and floors that have settled. Fitted furniture gets scribed to what the wall actually does rather than sat against it with a filler panel hiding the gap, and there is usually unused height above a standard vanity worth building into.

Wall-hung, and what it needs
Suits the postwar housing and looks right in it — the floor running underneath makes a standard bathroom feel more open. It needs a frame fixed back to something structural, which in a stud wall means opening it up and adding noggins.
