Giltbrook is a small village of around fifteen hundred people beside the retail park, between Eastwood and Nuthall, with a mix of older brick housing and newer estate development.

Giltbrook is a small village with a mix of older brick housing and newer estate development, so the bathrooms range from retrofitted rooms in period property to standard modern layouts.
In the older houses the bathroom is often over a rear extension with one cold external wall. In the newer, it is upstairs and unremarkable. Which one you have changes the specification more than any preference does.
An extractor is rated in cubic metres per hour, and a bathroom needs roughly 15 litres per second to clear moisture properly. Fitting a small fan and a long duct with several bends gives you a fan that runs and air that does not move.
Short duct run, gentle bends, terminated outside, on a run-on timer. That is the whole specification and it is routinely got wrong.

The older brick housing
Bathrooms in this stock were added later rather than built in, and they are usually over a rear outrigger or carved out of a small bedroom. Narrow, one external wall, small window.
Fitted furniture down the longer wall with the WC boxed into the run uses that shape better than trying to place a conventional three-piece suite in a room that was never designed to hold one.
Much of the older stock around here is solid brick rather than cavity, so a bathroom on an external wall runs colder and shows condensation sooner than you would expect. Insulated backer board behind the tiling is usually worth including — considerably cheaper done during the work than retrofitted afterwards.
Ventilation is the other constant. Extraction ducted properly to the outside on a run-on timer. Ducting into a loft void does nothing, and it remains the most common fault we find in bathrooms of this age.

The newer estates
Regular rooms, straight walls, modern plumbing, and usually a family bathroom plus an en-suite.
Wall-hung furniture suits these and looks right in them, with the floor running underneath making a modest room feel larger. It needs a frame fixed back to something structural — in a stud wall, opening it up and adding noggins. Worth confirming that is priced into anything you are comparing.
En-suites are the harder job: small, frequently internal with no window, and ventilation decides whether they stay pleasant or turn damp inside a year.
