Edwalton is mostly newer housing — postwar detached and a large amount of recent estate development — with an older village core at the centre. For bathrooms that means bigger rooms, more of them per house, and a different set of decisions from the terraced towns.

Most houses here have at least two, and they want different treatments.
The family bathroom generally has room to separate the bath and the shower rather than compromising with one over the other, which is worth doing if the space allows — a shower over a bath is a compromise nobody enjoys using.
The en-suite is usually the harder problem. Small, frequently internal with no window, and ventilation decides whether it stays pleasant or turns damp. An extractor on a run-on timer ducted to an outside wall is what works; ducting into a loft void is not a substitute and we still find them.

Edwalton’s postwar and modern detached housing, and the substantial recent estate development, generally give a bathroom enough floor area to stop compromising.
That means a bath and a separate walk-in shower rather than a shower over the bath, which is the single change that most improves how a family bathroom works day to day. Where there is an en-suite as well, the main bathroom can keep the bath and the en-suite can be a pure shower room.
Newer housing here often has an unvented cylinder or a good mains pressure, and that is what makes a large drencher head worth having. On a gravity system the same head produces a disappointing trickle.

These come up more here than in the older housing, partly because the newer construction makes them easier and partly because more of these houses have a ground-floor bathroom or a large en-suite to work with.
Worth knowing the mechanics: the floor has to fall roughly 1:50 towards the gully, and that depth comes either from dropping joists — structural — or building the floor up, which raises the threshold. On a ground floor with a concrete slab it is usually straightforward. Upstairs it is a bigger job than it looks.
Done properly a wet room is excellent and gives genuine level access. Done badly it leaks into the ceiling below, which is a rebuild rather than a repair.

Wall-hung furniture
Suits this housing and looks right in it. The floor running underneath makes even a large bathroom feel more open, and the regular walls in modern construction make it straightforward.
It needs a frame fixed back to something structural — in a stud wall that means opening it up and adding noggins. Worth confirming that is priced in anything you are comparing.
